MEP CAD Operator

Role overview

Swan Global is hiring an experienced MEP CAD Operator for an oil and gas assignment in Ras Laffan, Qatar. This is a contract position for one month, with the possibility of extension. The selected professional will support the creation, revision, and upkeep of accurate mechanical, electrical, and plumbing drawings for a project environment that demands precision and coordination.

What you will do

• Develop and revise MEP shop drawings, fabrication drawings, coordination drawings, and as-built drawings in AutoCAD.
• Work closely with mechanical, electrical, civil, and structural teams to identify clashes, resolve drawing issues, and align outputs with project specifications.
• Keep drawing revisions, document control records, and material layouts organized throughout the execution phase.
• Provide ongoing drafting assistance to support the project from start to finish.

Experience and qualification criteria

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in MEP CAD drafting is required.
• Previous work on oil and gas projects is mandatory.
• Exposure to QatarEnergy, Ras Laffan, or comparable large oil and gas projects will be preferred.
• A diploma or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Drafting, or a related field is needed.
• Strong command of AutoCAD is essential.
• Hands-on experience with HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, and electrical systems is expected.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, equipment layouts, and utility drawings is important.
• Familiarity with Autodesk Navisworks or Revit MEP will be considered an advantage.
• Candidates should understand international codes and project standards.
• Excellent communication skills and a sharp eye for detail are necessary.
