Role Overview
As a vital member of our Media and PR team, you will lead day-to-day media engagement and serve as a principal liaison with journalists and other key stakeholders. Building trusted relationships with the media will be essential, as will crafting proactive communication strategies and responsive pitches. You will prepare our spokespeople for media interactions and offer crucial communication guidance during external challenges or crises.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily media relations and act as a primary contact for media and stakeholders
- Develop and implement forward-thinking communication plans and media pitches
- Support and coach spokespersons for effective media presence
- Provide communications support in crisis and external issue scenarios
- Create clear, engaging content for internal brand narrative and employee advocacy
- Collaborate closely with external agency partners to deliver impactful work
- Ensure messaging aligns with strategic goals to enhance customer and employee advocacy
Candidate Profile
We seek a seasoned expert in media relations and communications with an intimate understanding of the New Zealand media landscape. Ideal candidates may have background experience as journalists or have established trustworthy connections with NZ media. Strong written communication skills, exceptional organization, and an ability to perform under tight deadlines are critical. A keen awareness of current affairs and news trends, coupled with proven success navigating large, multifaceted environments, is essential.
