Mechanical Fitter

Role overview

Qatar Shipyard Technology Solutions is looking for a Mechanical Fitter to support the upkeep, fault-finding, repair, and overhaul of machinery in line with company standards.

What you will do

• Work to production targets and section plans while staying aligned with KPIs, company values, and the integrated management system.
• Carry out duties in accordance with company policies, operational procedures, and applicable legal requirements.
• Follow health, safety, security, and environmental rules and controls to protect yourself and others.
• Apply practical knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, engines, controls, machine clearances and fits, and overall machine operation.
• Support quality management processes to ensure service and product quality remains high.
• Diagnose and fix mechanical and electrical issues affecting production equipment.
• Assist supervisors and engineers with root cause analysis reports.
• Spot faulty machine components and parts and report them to the supervisor and engineer.
• Help with commissioning new machinery and recommissioning repaired equipment.
• Interpret technical drawings, work orders, and production schedules to understand job requirements.
• Complete maintenance tasks according to schedule and the instructions on job cards.
• Use materials efficiently and avoid unnecessary waste.
• Work safely and use protective equipment correctly at all times.
• Observe yard safety rules and regulations without exception.
• Maintain the required quantity and quality of output.
• Keep tools and equipment in good condition.
• Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping in the work area.
• Follow instructions from superiors and perform tasks safely and productively.
• Report any safety lapses or incidents promptly.
• Take on any other duties assigned by the company.
• Place personal and team wellbeing first while helping maintain a safe and healthy workplace.
• Follow health and safety protocols, join wellbeing and wellness activities, and raise concerns about wellbeing issues when needed.

Qualifications

A Technical Certificate in Machine Maintenance, Mechanical Maintenance, or Electrical Maintenance is required. A Machine Repair Apprenticeship is also acceptable.

Additional information

This role is based in Al Khor and Al Thakhira, Qatar and is a full-time, onsite position.
