Job Overview
Airbus Defence and Space seeks a Materials & Processes Engineer to join their Materials and Processes Organisation, focusing on structural materials for military aircraft. The position involves working with metallic or polymer technologies across the full lifecycle of various military aircraft, including legacy models like Eurofighter and Tornado as well as new platforms such as Eurodrone and advanced fighter jets. The engineer will actively contribute to the development of metal or polymer technologies and will be engaged in designing and manufacturing processes for Airbus military aviation products.

Key Responsibilities
- Leading technology development and qualification initiatives related to metallic or polymer materials and associated processes
- Developing specifications for materials, processes, and testing methodologies
- Offering expert guidance on materials and processes to design, stress, fatigue, quality, manufacturing teams, and suppliers
- Evaluating waiver or concession requests
- Participating in national and international standardization committees
- Providing technical assistance during process and product audits
- Conducting investigations into material defects
- Assisting with obsolescence management
- Performing thorough technical assessments of documentation
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Master’s degree in material science, aerospace engineering with a materials focus, or an equivalent field
- A curious and open-minded approach to technology challenges
- Strong interpersonal and communication capabilities to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders
- Capability to thrive and contribute in a dynamic, cross-functional work environment
- Strategic thinking paired with analytical problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in German and English languages
- Experience working effectively within interdisciplinary and international teams
