Material Planner - 1st Shift

Role Overview

New Flyer is looking for a Material Planner to support the efficiency of the materials function at its Shepherdsville, Kentucky location. In this role, you will help make sure production has the materials it needs on time, keep inventory under control, and contribute to ongoing process improvements. New Flyer is a major North American manufacturer of heavy-duty transit buses and a subsidiary of NFI Group, with a long history in zero-emission and mass mobility solutions.

Work Schedule

This is a first-shift position with a schedule of Monday through Thursday, 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

Compensation

The starting wage for this role is $26.13 per hour.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure materials are moved to the point-of-use location based on the required date.
• Keep inventory levels accurate in the assigned area, including rejection-related material requirements.
• Manage material requirements planning activities, including handling MRP messages and reviewing the daily order action summary.
• Support continuous improvement efforts and help roll out policies, guidelines, and tools that improve process performance.
• Track materials-related metrics and work toward meeting all set targets.
• Deliver strong internal customer support by coordinating with other departments to complete critical daily work.
• Assist manufacturing leadership with routine tasks in the assigned area.
• Maintain a safe workplace by following all safety rules, procedures, and work practices.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in materials planning or a closely related role is required.
• Strong analytical ability and comfort working with data to support decisions.
• Working knowledge of Material Requirements Planning systems.
• Excellent organization and strong attention to detail.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a team-based environment.
• Lean manufacturing experience is considered an advantage.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to juggle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Familiarity with ISO procedures and continuous improvement practices.
• A degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline is preferred.
