Role Overview
Cannon Automotive, part of Cleveland-Cliffs Tooling and Stamping, is looking to hire a Material Handler for its stamping plant in Windsor, Ontario. This position focuses on keeping materials moving efficiently across the facility and supporting smooth production flow. The company is seeking someone who already has material handling experience, works well without close supervision, and can stay productive in a busy, high-pressure setting.
What You Will Do
- Use material-moving equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and dollies to transport or rearrange stock.
- Help maintain steady production and shipping flow by picking inventory, delivering supplies to production areas, and preparing finished goods for outbound distribution.
- Find and verify materials and supplies against the production schedule before moving them.
- Support the organization and upkeep of the stock and materials storage area.
- Remove scrap hoppers as needed.
- Perform bin audits and dunnage checks, including confirming that bins are safe to use before they are deployed.
- Remember and follow proper packing and shipping practices to ensure safe shipment of materials.
- Clean and inspect equipment regularly and report any repair needs promptly.
- Carry out additional tasks assigned by management.
- Follow all company rules and procedures, including Health and Safety, Environmental, Quality, Human Resources, and Employee Handbook requirements.
Minimum Requirements
- A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record are required.
- Comfort working in a fast-moving environment and completing repetitive tasks.
- Ability to locate information, record relevant details, and use computers.
- Good memory and the ability to communicate clearly.
- Physical ability to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
Preferred Background
- Forklift certification and overhead crane certification are considered an advantage.
- 1 to 3 years of experience in a production setting is preferred.
Compensation and Benefits
The hourly pay for this position ranges from $20.00 to $32.00. Cleveland-Cliffs also offers a strong total compensation package with premium pay opportunities, health insurance, a retirement plan, education support, paid time off, and additional benefits.
