About the Organization

San Antonio Sports has been serving as San Antonio’s nonprofit sports commission since 1984. Through major sporting events and community-focused programs, the organization has helped raise the city’s profile worldwide and has contributed more than $1 billion in economic impact.

Role Summary

The organization is looking for a highly organized, creative Marketing Manager who can help deliver events, programs, and mission-driven work across multiple marketing channels. Reporting to the Director of Marketing & Communications, this position will support integrated campaigns, oversee email communications, coordinate creative production, and help maintain a consistent brand presence across the organization.

This role is also important for expanding audiences, increasing registrations and ticket sales, supporting sponsor deliverables, and building community awareness through clear digital communication, strong content, and disciplined project coordination.

Email Marketing and Audience Growth

  • Own the organization’s email marketing efforts, including newsletters, event promotions, automated journeys, and audience segmentation.
  • Maintain the email calendar, subscriber lists, database hygiene, and audience segments.
  • Create engaging email copy that encourages registrations, ticket purchases, participation, and broader engagement.
  • Review campaign results and adjust based on open rates, click-through performance, conversions, and list growth.
  • Develop and apply strategies to expand and retain audiences across San Antonio Sports properties.

Campaign and Project Coordination

  • Assist the Director of Marketing & Communications with incoming requests, schedules, production priorities, and cross-functional communication so campaigns and creative assets are delivered on time.
  • Keep the department’s production calendar updated and help run regular check-ins to surface priorities, deadlines, and possible bottlenecks during busy event periods.
  • Coordinate execution across email, social media, digital advertising, website, and print efforts.
  • Act as a central point of contact among marketing, internal teams, vendors, and agencies to keep work organized and progressing.

Creative and Content Support

  • Manage requests for graphic design and help move creative projects through production.
  • Draft and refine content for emails, websites, advertisements, and promotional assets.
  • Handle routine website updates, including landing pages, form creation, and accurate event details.
  • Check marketing materials for factual accuracy, brand consistency, grammar, and overall polish before release.
  • Keep marketing files and asset libraries well organized and easy to access.

Analytics and Reporting

  • Monitor and summarize results for email, digital, and broader campaign performance, as well as registrations, ticket sales, audience growth, and engagement.
  • Use performance data to suggest improvements that strengthen campaign effectiveness and return on investment.
  • Support the Director with reporting and marketing performance analysis.

Additional Duties

  • Oversee Marketing & Communications interns.
  • Provide marketing support onsite during events and activations when needed.

Qualifications and Experience

A bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related discipline is required. The ideal candidate will bring 3 to 5 years of experience in marketing, communications, or digital marketing, along with proven experience leading email campaigns and marketing projects.

Experience in sports marketing, brand activation, nonprofit work, event marketing, or tourism marketing is preferred.

Skills and Work Style

The role calls for excellent project coordination, sharp attention to detail, and the ability to manage several deadlines at once. Strong writing and speaking skills are essential, along with the ability to create clear, persuasive content for different audiences and channels.

Candidates should be comfortable with email marketing platforms such as MailChimp or similar tools, including segmentation, automation, and campaign analytics. Familiarity with design workflows is important, along with the ability to give useful direction and feedback to designers. The role also requires the ability to analyze campaign performance, audience growth, engagement, registrations, and ticket sales.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office is expected. Experience with tools such as Smartsheet, SponsorCX, Asana, Trello, or similar project management platforms is a plus. Experience using Canva or Adobe Creative Suite is also a plus. The best fit will be collaborative, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where quality and accuracy matter.

Working Conditions and Additional Requirements

This position may require evening and weekend work depending on the event schedule. The role is based at the Alamodome, 100 Montana St., San Antonio, Texas.
