About Serenita Care Home
Located in Weston-super-Mare within a charming Victorian building near the seafront, Serenita Care Home offers specialized support to up to 34 residents with mental health conditions such as alcohol-related brain damage and Korsakoff’s syndrome. The home emphasizes a structured, supportive environment fostering independence.
Role Overview
The Maintenance Officer plays a vital role in maintaining a safe, fully operational environment in this complex care setting. This practical position involves executing various maintenance tasks across the facility, including repairs, inspections, installations, and general upkeep of buildings and grounds. Ensuring the efficient operation of equipment, systems, and safety features is essential, along with early identification and resolution of issues to minimize disruption.
Collaborating closely with the Home Manager and team, the Maintenance Officer also aids in planning maintenance activities, conducting compliance checks, and coordinating contractors when necessary. All duties must be performed sensitively to minimize impact on residents, adhering to health and safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Perform wide-ranging maintenance and repair tasks within the care home premises and grounds
- Conduct inspections and ensure safety systems and equipment are functioning properly
- Assist with maintenance scheduling, compliance checks, and coordinating external contractors
- Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment that supports resident wellbeing
- Comply strictly with health and safety policies and regulatory guidelines during all activities
Requirements
- Experience in maintenance, facilities management, or related roles
- Solid knowledge of general repair work, electrical systems, and building maintenance
- Capability to manage workload independently and efficiently
- Understanding of health and safety protocols and safe working practices
- A hands-on, practical approach with strong problem-solving skills
- Reliability, organization, and the ability to work respectfully within a care setting
Compensation and Benefits
- Hourly pay at £13.73
- Contracted for 40 hours per week
- Provided pension scheme, paid DBS check, and uniform
- 5.6 weeks of annual leave on a full-time basis
