Logistics Officer

Job Overview

The Logistics Officer will oversee and coordinate logistics tasks to ensure smooth, on-time transportation of construction materials, heavy machinery, tools, and supplies to project locations. This role is critical to maintaining continuous project work by collaborating with Procurement, Warehouse, Site Operations, and external logistics providers while ensuring adherence to corporate policies, contract obligations, and health & safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and schedule transportation and delivery of construction-related assets to various project sites.
• Track shipment timelines and guarantee deliveries meet project schedules.
• Work closely with Procurement, Warehouse, Site Engineers, and Project Managers to ensure resources are available, minimizing project delays.
• Communicate with suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, transport agencies, and other logistics partners to facilitate efficient operations.
• Monitor both domestic and international shipment progress and quickly resolve any shipping challenges or delays.
• Prepare and organize shipping paperwork including delivery notes, customs documentation, transport logs, and logistics reports.
• Assist with import/export processes, ensuring customs clearance and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate the movement (mobilization/demobilization) of construction equipment and project-related assets.
• Track and analyze logistics expenses identifying cost-saving options and enhancing operational effectiveness.
• Ensure correct storage, handling, and distribution practices aligning with company procedures and HSE standards.
• Maintain updated inventory and logistics information using the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.
• Generate regular reports on logistics performance and key performance indicators.
• Enforce compliance with company policies, quality benchmarks, and health, safety, and environmental procedures.
• Undertake other logistics duties assigned by the Logistics Manager.

Educational and Professional Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.
• Relevant professional certifications in Logistics or Supply Chain Management are advantageous.

Experience Needed

• At least 5 years of professional experience managing logistics or supply chain activities in the construction, EPC, infrastructure, or industrial sectors.
• Proven track record managing transportation of construction materials, heavy equipment, and machinery across multiple sites.
• Practical experience in project logistics planning, site material coordination, and warehouse management.
• In-depth understanding of transportation laws, import/export rules, customs processes, and freight forwarding procedures.
• Competence with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or their equivalents in logistics and inventory control.
• Previous involvement with large-scale construction projects in the GCC or Middle East region preferred.
