Role Overview

The Logistics Manager position based in Hastings, New Zealand, is a pivotal, strategic role responsible for managing a large, complex supply chain and logistics network. The focus is on seasonal stock accumulation supporting fresh produce clients through significant warehousing capacity and extensive cross-country stock movements.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage warehousing operations, local and linehaul freight, and container logistics, establishing standardized procedures and firm oversight on aged stock management.
• Hold logistics partners accountable by driving compliance with KPIs and actively resolving freight and billing inconsistencies.
• Utilize analytical tools and inventory systems to sustain optimal working capital and maintain stock within budget.
• Collaborate closely with sales teams, production planners, paper mill supply chains, and maintain strong relationships with major fresh produce customers.
• Ensure strict adherence to Health, Safety & Environment and Chain of Responsibility legislation, while fostering team accountability, mentoring, and training both direct and indirect reports.

Candidate Profile

• Extensive experience in supply chain and logistics management, especially in large-scale warehousing and seasonal inventory, preferably within manufacturing, packaging, or primary industry sectors.
• Proven ability to introduce structure in unorganized settings by implementing SOPs, KPIs, and process stability.
• Skilled in managing external transportation and warehousing service providers, resolving operational issues, and ensuring contractual compliance.
• Capability to develop and mentor operational teams, manage workforce transitions, and contribute to site-wide leadership efforts.
