Job description

Role Overview

The librarian will be responsible for designing, managing, and continuously improving the library system encompassing personnel, physical and digital spaces, collections, and services. This role supports inquiry-based learning, multiple literacies development, curriculum enhancement, and student well-being across the school.

Primary Duties

  • Create and oversee a dynamic physical and virtual library space to foster accessibility, inquiry, and inclusivity.
  • Curate and maintain diverse collections, including print, digital, and media resources, aligned with curriculum, student interests, and global viewpoints.
  • Ensure efficient cataloging and circulation processes.
  • Collaborate with educators in lesson planning and co-teaching that integrates Approaches To Learning (ATL), Approaches To Teaching (ATT), multiliteracies, and inquiry methodologies.
  • Participate actively in curriculum development, contributing to instructional units and resource creation.
  • Promote academic integrity by delivering training and preparing supportive materials.
  • Instruct students in research methodologies, source evaluation, digital citizenship, and referencing techniques.
  • Facilitate individualized inquiry support for students and provide immediate assistance during classroom or independent work sessions.
  • Encourage reading and multimodal literacy growth for all age groups.
  • Assemble resources supporting multilingualism, reflecting students' personal and functional language needs.
  • Develop student-centered spaces that nurture self-expression and cultural interactions.
  • Coordinate with external libraries, vendors, and networks to enrich educational experiences.
  • Engage in ongoing professional growth and assist staff in resource and technology utilization training.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support student pastoral care and well-being by creating safe, inclusive, and adaptable library zones.
  • Collaborate with counselors and educators to aid students' academic and emotional development.
  • Organize literacy-related events such as reading weeks, author visits, research fairs, and co-curricular programs.
  • Participate in school-wide events, exhibitions, and student initiatives.
  • Contribute to school ICT integration, knowledge management platforms, and group-wide educational initiatives, including Patrika in Education (PIE).

Evaluation Criteria

  • Levels of student participation in inquiry activities, reading, and use of library resources.
  • Degree of library integration into curriculum planning and execution.
  • Development of an environment conducive to multiliteracies.
  • Feedback from students, faculty, and management on library effectiveness.
  • Active involvement in professional development and institutional learning objectives.
