Role Overview
Our client is in search of an experienced Lead Planner to oversee the planning operations within complex construction projects. The position entails responsibility for creating, managing, and controlling project schedules to ensure timely delivery in line with crucial objectives, milestones, and contractual obligations. Reporting to the Regional Planning Manager or Planning Manager, this role involves leading planning teams, assisting with risk management, resource allocation, and collaborating closely with commercial, design, and construction departments to ensure safe and efficient project delivery.
Key Duties
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules throughout all delivery stages.
- Identify critical paths, important milestones, risks, and dependencies to guarantee smooth project progress.
- Track project advancement, analyze schedule performance, and implement mitigation or corrective actions as needed.
- Prepare program reports and offer planning insights to aid decision-making processes.
- Work collaboratively with project managers, commercial teams, design personnel, clients, and subcontractors to align scheduling efforts.
- Assist in change management by evaluating the impacts of design, scope, or construction alterations.
- Ensure adherence to contractual terms, company policies, and industry standards.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to planning teams while encouraging best practices and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven track record in planning and overseeing complex construction projects within a main contractor or related environment.
- Proficiency in planning and scheduling software such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar platforms.
- Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving abilities.
- Competence in analyzing schedule performance, pinpointing risks, and formulating effective solutions.
- Demonstrated experience working cooperatively across multidisciplinary project teams.
