The Clermont plant produces newsprint using thermomechanical pulp sourced entirely from wood chips. Its paper machine number 5 has an annual production capacity of 221,000 metric tonnes. Employing approximately 157 individuals, the facility distributes its production to 29 countries including Canada and the U.S.

We are currently looking for qualified candidates to fill the position of Laboratory Technician, a permanent full-time role located in Clermont.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure equipment reliability and proper functioning.
• Maintain product quality and environmental compliance within defined specifications.
• Conduct laboratory analyses using complex instruments following established procedures.
• Perform various tests and manipulations on pulp and paper at different production and testing stages as per given instructions.
• Use laboratory instruments and facilities appropriately, ensuring their maintenance and upkeep according to protocols.
• Prepare samples for analyses conducted in external laboratories.
• Collaborate effectively with other laboratory team members to uphold high-quality control service standards.
• Execute other related tasks as necessary.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Diploma (DEC) in Pulp and Paper Technology, Laboratory Technology, or equivalent experience.
• Between 1 and 2 years of industrial work experience.
• Knowledge of factory effluent treatment is advantageous.
• Familiarity with instruments such as Scanpro, Pulp Expert, Technibright, Autoline, gas detectors, and brightness probes is a plus.
• Strong laboratory skills with great precision and conscientiousness.
• Meticulous, careful, possesses fine dexterity and autonomy.
• Safety and quality-oriented while maintaining productivity.
• Understanding of workplace hazardous materials information system (WHMIS/SIMDUT).
• Knowledge of ISO14001 and ISO9001 standards is beneficial.
• Good analytical skills and ability to interpret results accurately.
• Capable of performing adjustments and fine-tuning on high-precision equipment.
• Bilingualism is considered an asset.
