Overview
We are seeking an experienced IT System Administrator to join our remote team based in Canada. This full-time position requires a minimum of three years handling IT infrastructure to ensure secure, reliable, and efficient business operations. The individual will be responsible for system administration, technical support, network oversight, and cooperation with various teams to sustain an optimal IT environment.
Primary Duties
- Oversee and support the organization's IT infrastructure, encompassing servers, network systems, and cloud services.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, email platforms, and access controls.
- Install and configure hardware and software components including operating systems and business applications.
- Continuously monitor performance to guarantee system availability, security, and reliability.
- Conduct routine system updates, patches, backups, and disaster recovery operations.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network connectivity problems promptly.
- Deliver remote technical assistance to office and project-based teams.
- Maintain endpoint protection such as antivirus solutions, firewalls, and implement security best practices.
- Document IT methodologies, configuration details, and related procedures thoroughly.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional departments to enhance business IT processes.
Required Qualifications
- At least 3 years’ experience in roles such as System Administrator or IT Administrator.
- Proficient with Windows Server environments and Microsoft 365 management.
- In-depth understanding of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and user administration.
- Strong grasp of networking concepts including TCP/IP, VPN, LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, and firewall configurations.
- Experience with virtualization platforms, particularly VMware or Hyper-V.
- Skilled in backup strategies, recovery operations, and endpoint security techniques.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication skills and ability to support users remotely.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with cloud services such as Azure or AWS.
- Knowledge of scripting languages like PowerShell or Bash is advantageous.
- Experience working in construction or engineering sectors is a beneficial asset.
- Certifications from Microsoft, Azure, Cisco, or CompTIA considered a plus.
