Role Overview
The IT Support Engineer position is a full-time, onsite job based in Reutlingen, Germany. The engineer will be tasked with delivering technical assistance to users and ensuring the reliable functioning of local IT systems. Daily responsibilities include diagnosing and resolving issues related to hardware, software, and networking, handling user permissions and account management, and supporting setup operations for workstations, servers, and peripherals.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and troubleshoot hardware, application, and network problems promptly.
- Manage user accounts and access rights securely and efficiently.
- Maintain and support computing devices and associated equipment.
- Monitor IT systems for performance, apply necessary updates, and maintain security patches.
- Document incidents and resolutions thoroughly to aid future troubleshooting.
- Escalate complex technical issues to advanced support teams as required.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and global IT departments to maintain secure and effective technology systems.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proficient in supporting end-users by resolving hardware, software, and basic network connectivity issues.
- Experience with administering operating systems such as Windows, macOS, and common Linux variants including workstation configuration.
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN) and basic support experience with routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Familiarity with IT service management tools including ticketing systems, incident tracking, and technical documentation filing.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles applicable to endpoint protection, patch management, antivirus solutions, and secure authentication methods.
- Effective communication skills to liaise with global teams and explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Technical certifications or relevant education such as IT apprenticeships, CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft certifications are advantageous.
- Fluent English proficiency is required; any additional languages or experience in enterprise IT environments enhances candidacy.
