Role overview
Jacana Therapeutics Limited is looking for a meticulous, service-focused Inventory Compliance Specialist to help protect stock accuracy, uphold internal procedures, and support efficient inventory control across the business. This position reports to the Financial Controller and is a permanent, full-time role based in New Kingston, Jamaica, with regular travel required to retail outlets across the island.
Key duties
- Carry out routine inventory audits at retail sites and compare physical stock counts with records in the digital system.
- Manage the retail inventory platform, including creating user access, updating discount settings, changing prices, and processing manual stock corrections.
- Handle day-to-day compliance questions and troubleshoot system issues raised by branch teams to keep operations running smoothly and internal controls intact.
- Prepare detailed audit summaries for senior leaders and finance stakeholders, highlighting findings, reasons for variances, and suggested corrective actions.
- Guide and oversee a small team of retail associates on correct stock-handling practices to help reduce inventory loss.
Required knowledge and experience
- Strong background in retail inventory auditing and stock reconciliation.
- Working knowledge of compliance standards and regulatory expectations.
- Experience administering Bio Track or POS-based inventory systems.
- Ability to investigate discrepancies and identify root causes.
- Skill in financial reporting and variance analysis.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- At least 3 years of experience in audit or compliance within a retail setting.
- Prior exposure to a supervisory, team lead, assistant manager, or management position is preferred.
- Experience in the cannabis industry or a dispensary environment is a strong advantage.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Must pass all background checks required for cannabis-related work.
- Must own and operate a dependable motor vehicle and be willing to travel to multiple locations throughout the island.
