Job description
Overview
This role involves manual fish processing tasks including cutting, cleaning, and trimming fish or seafood to prepare for marketing or further processing. It requires handling tasks involving physical labor and repetitive motions in a refrigerated working environment.
Languages and Education
- Basic English language skills required
- No formal degree, certificate, or diploma necessary
Work Environment
- Work is exclusively onsite at Little River, New South Wales, Australia
- Workplace conditions may include strong odors, cold/refrigerated environment, and dampness
Primary Responsibilities
- Cut, clean, and trim fish or seafood before marketing or additional processing
- Examine fish fillets to determine the best number and size of fillets
- Use knives to scrape away scales, separate fillets, and discard unwanted parts
- Disjoint and remove meat from lobsters or other crustaceans for canning or further processing
Equipment Experience
- Experience working with fish cleaning and cutting machines is involved
Physical and Work Conditions
- Perform repetitive tasks
- Handle heavy loads as part of daily duties
- Physically demanding job requiring manual dexterity
- Standing for extended periods, including frequent bending, crouching, and kneeling
