Job Overview

The Firefighter role is critical for emergency response at the airport, involving prompt action in aircraft fires, structural fires, medical crises, and hazardous material incidents. This position ensures the safety and security of all airport users through firefighting, rescue, and emergency medical services.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Rapidly respond to emergencies including fires, medical situations, and hazardous materials on airport premises.
  • Execute firefighting duties employing water, foam, dry chemicals, and other agents.
  • Conduct search and rescue in dangerous, smoke-filled environments.
  • Deliver basic life support and first aid until advanced medical teams take over.
  • Support patient transport to medical facilities when required.
  • Carry out daily inspections and maintenance on firefighting vehicles, extinguishers, and personal protective equipment.
  • Maintain and manage firefighting supplies inventory to ensure operational readiness.
  • Engage in routine emergency drills, ICAO-mandated training, and simulations.
  • Document incidents, training, and shift activities accurately for audits.
  • Comply with all applicable firefighting and emergency response regulations and adhere to Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Identify and address hazards through proactive patrols and inspections.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams like Airport Operations, Security, HSE, and external agencies including local fire services and civil aviation authorities during emergencies.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma in Fire Fighting Technology or an equivalent credential.
  • Certification from a recognized firefighting academy is mandatory.
  • 2 to 3 years of relevant firefighting experience, preferably in Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) operations.

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Work alongside Airport Duty Manager (ARFF), Airport Operations, Security, Emergency Medical Services, Engineering and Maintenance, and HSE teams.
  • Coordinate with external agencies such as local fire departments, airlines, ground handlers, equipment service providers, insurers, community representatives, and civil aviation authorities during incidents and drills.
