Role Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Financial Accountant to bolster our Finance team, focusing on significant infrastructure projects throughout Australia. This role within a global construction environment is crucial for financial reporting, project accounting, and compliance. You will collaborate closely with project teams and senior finance professionals to enhance business performance and enable well-informed decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, including handling journals, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
- Compile statutory and management reports while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger across multiple entities and projects.
- Manage project accounting tasks such as cost allocation, Work in Progress (WIP) reporting, cost tracking, and analysis of variances.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and continuous supervision of financial outcomes across projects and business units.
- Prepare GST, FBT, and other mandatory statutory reports while aiding with intercompany transactions, group reporting, and audits.
- Drive improvements in accounting processes, financial reporting, system usage, and internal controls.
- Collaborate with project teams and finance stakeholders to deliver accurate financial insights supporting sound business decisions.
Candidate Profile
- Established experience in Australian financial or project accounting.
- Background in construction, infrastructure, engineering, or other project-driven industries.
- Thorough knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards (AASB) and statutory reporting obligations.
- Proficient with advanced Excel capabilities to effectively analyze and interpret financial data.
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, or equivalents is highly desirable.
- Professional accounting qualifications like CA or CPA are considered a strong advantage.
