Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated Field Technician for our First Gas team to operate primarily in the Manawatu district and surrounding areas. This position also involves occasional time at the head office in Bell Block and travel within the North Island. The role requires a proactive individual with strong communication, safety focus, and a mechanical aptitude who enjoys working outdoors in a dynamic setting with varied daily tasks.
Key Duties
- Conduct surveillance of pipelines via aerial, vehicle, and foot patrols.
- Perform routine and specialized mechanical and easement maintenance on gas transmission pipelines and associated stations.
- Lead site operations during construction or modification of stations and pipelines.
- Provide mechanical support in daily gas transmission activities.
- Authorize and monitor third-party work activities near pipeline easements.
- Assist with non-routine operational tasks including construction, pigging, and commissioning.
- Occasionally carry out geotechnical monitoring.
- Participate in the on-call duty roster.
Candidate Profile
- Prioritizes safety rigorously as a fundamental aspect of the role.
- Possesses excellent relationship management capabilities.
- Preferably holds a mechanical or engineering trade qualification, though this is not mandatory.
- Has a practical understanding of farming operations.
- Eager to learn, grow, and share expertise.
- Holds a current clean driver’s license.
- Displays a positive, can-do mindset.
- Capable of working independently and collaboratively within a tight-knit team.
