Role Overview
The Field Safety Coordinator is tasked with putting safety systems into practice, tracking compliance, and ensuring enforcement of health, safety, security, and environmental controls across active work locations. The position also covers fire protection oversight and continuous improvement of site safety performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Take overall ownership of HSSE protection activities and fire protection systems at site.
- Apply the organization’s safety policy and standards consistently across operations.
- Carry out safety audits and site inspections, including process areas, to spot and assess hazards.
- Ensure the permit-to-work process is followed correctly and without exception.
- Deliver safety training to employees, identify training needs, and help build training content.
- Investigate incidents, determine root causes, maintain incident records, and propose corrective actions with follow-up.
- Plan, document, and control permit-to-work procedures.
- Ensure all activities comply with occupational health and safety legal requirements.
- Arrange internal safety audits and HSE meetings.
- Perform HSE risk assessments for contract-specific activities.
- Maintain a strong standard of practical HSE performance across all work areas.
- Prepare schedules for and conduct emergency mock drills.
- Inspect plant areas, rigging setups, slinging tools, lifting equipment, and cranes.
- Carry out daily site safety walks to find and correct unsafe acts and unsafe conditions.
- Review safe work methods with supervisors and the workforce.
- Support implementation and monitoring of project and process safety procedures at site.
- Participate in major shutdowns and maintenance activities.
- Conduct health and safety audits, surveys, and inspections.
- Review and evaluate job safety analysis documents.
- Perform root cause analysis and accident investigations.
- Work jointly with management and employees to promote safe operations.
- Stay updated on developments in accident prevention, PPE, and safety procedures.
- Oversee transport safety procedures.
- Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, and annual health and safety reports.
- Develop risk assessments as needed.
- Inspect lifting equipment and associated gear on a periodic basis.
- Inspect scaffolding regularly.
- Carry out periodic inspection and testing of safety equipment and devices.
- Inspect life-saving equipment.
- Provide safety induction training to new employees.
- Introduce and implement a safe lifting program.
- Introduce and monitor an electrical inspection program, including LOTO practices.
- Initiate and track emergency drills.
Requirements
- Diploma in Fire Protection & Safety Engineering Technology.
- 2 to 6 years of experience in the HSE field.
- Strong command of English.
