Field Operator - Energy (Kuwait Pool - Based in UAE)

Job summary

This role is responsible for keeping gas and steam turbines, HRSG units, potline rectifiers, connected plant assets, and utility systems running reliably and safely in the assigned area. The position follows direction from the Shift Supervisor or Main Control Room Operator and supports stable day-to-day plant operations.

Key responsibilities

• Operate all plant and equipment under your control in a manner that is safe, efficient, and compliant with site practices.
• Carry out instructions from supervision or the control room quickly and accurately.
• Take routine readings at required intervals and escalate any unusual values or deviations.
• Notify the Supervisor or control room promptly about equipment issues or abnormal conditions.
• Keep standby equipment ready for immediate use during emergencies.
• Support routine testing and recommissioning activities after maintenance shutdowns or outages.
• Follow safe work methods to protect both people and plant assets.
• Recognize hazards and actively participate in the reporting process.
• Maintain clean and orderly working conditions in the operating area.
• Be fully familiar with emergency response procedures for the equipment in the assigned area.
• Undertake on-the-job learning and training as required.
• Work toward building stronger competency across relevant plant operations.

Site-specific note

For the Jebel Ali site, the additional roles of Operator Turbine & Boiler and Assistant Operator have responsibilities limited to gas turbines, steam turbines, associated plant equipment, and related utilities.

Qualifications and experience

The role requires a Higher Secondary School Certificate. Applicants should have at least 4 years of experience in a power station and 2 years of experience as a Desalination Operator (PG7) or equivalent exposure in a similar industry.

Skills and capabilities

The position calls for competency across all areas except DCR operation, along with English language ability sufficient for preparing and completing shift reports at an Intermediate 3 or equivalent level. Candidates should also be comfortable with numerical work, single-line diagrams, IT tools, problem-solving, planning and organising, communication, interpersonal effectiveness, and teamwork.

Additional requirements

The operator should have strong awareness of emergency procedures, a practical safety mindset, and the ability to maintain accurate routine records while responding quickly to operational changes.

Work setting

This is a full-time, on-site position based in the United Arab Emirates.
