Job description

Overview

Join Welsh Water's Facilities Team as a Facilities Porter, playing an essential role in maintaining a welcoming, safe, and efficient workplace environment. This role involves supporting various daily operations including mail and parcel delivery, setting up collaborative meeting spaces, office moves, and light maintenance tasks. You will collaborate closely with the Facilities Management team to ensure smooth operations across sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver mail and parcels accurately and with care.
  • Prepare and arrange meeting rooms to facilitate effective teamwork.
  • Assist with office relocations and furniture adjustments to optimize workspace use.
  • Perform health and safety inspections and participate in fire evacuation drills and seasonal safety initiatives like Winter Management.
  • Carry out minor repairs and general maintenance duties as required.
  • Act as a primary front-of-house contact, offering a professional and approachable service to colleagues, visitors, and customers.
  • Manage visitor reception, incoming calls, and general telephone enquiries.
  • Coordinate meeting room bookings and hospitality arrangements across various sites.
  • Support Facilities Management by conducting office inspections, managing ID cards, and assisting with helpdesk activities.
  • Maintain productive relationships with service providers to ensure effective delivery of facilities services.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Basic IT competence with certification or equivalent, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Valid full UK driving licence.
  • Previous experience in portering, delivery, postal services, or facilities support roles preferred.
  • Background in property or building maintenance, including general repairs, painting, or decorating.
  • Customer-facing experience, ideally in reception or similar front-of-house roles, including telephone communication skills.
  • Awareness or experience with Health and Safety legislation and procedures.

  • Effective communicator capable of sharing appropriate information openly and confidentially when necessary.

Additional Information

  • Working hours are Monday to Friday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
  • Interviews scheduled in-person on 19 August 2026.
  • Employment is subject to satisfactory references, medical clearance, and a basic criminal disclosure check; additional security clearances may be necessary.
