Role Summary
The Facilities Maintenance Technician will be part of the Maintenance team within the food service division. Based in Walton, KY, this role involves managing and maintaining facility infrastructure and equipment, adhering strictly to food manufacturing guidelines and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). The technician will perform preventative maintenance to ensure a safe working environment and prolong equipment lifespan, gaining expertise in complex steam, ammonia, and compressed air systems.
Work Schedule and Compensation
The role is full-time with a schedule of four 12-hour shifts per week (either 6:00 am to 6:00 pm or 6:00 pm to 6:00 am), including overtime and weekend availability. Pay ranges from $25.00 to $35.00 per hour.
Key Responsibilities
- Support company mission, vision, and values consistently.
- Daily monitoring of Ammonia, Waste Water, Soft Water, Steam, and Compressed Air Systems to maintain critical operating conditions.
- Proactively identify and resolve issues, reporting unresolved anomalies promptly to the Facilities Manager.
- Repair leaks and fixtures such as toilets, sinks, and water dispensers throughout the facility.
- Maintain knowledge and skills in Plumbing, Electrical, Ammonia Refrigeration, HVAC, Water Treatment, Pumps, and Fluid Dynamics, with training opportunities provided.
- Collaborate within the team to exchange information and offer assistance as needed.
- Inspect evaporative coolers, HVAC systems, and fans for operational integrity, including belt tension, pump function, and component alignment.
- Conduct weekly inspections of rooftop ammonia refrigeration piping, involving extensive walking and stair climbing.
- Ensure HVAC units operate correctly, including condensate drains, fans, and UV light systems.
- Assist the broader Maintenance Department with repairs beyond standard scope as required.
- Complete work order requests and accurately log labor hours using CMMS software, covering preventative maintenance, food safety requests, and corrective orders.
- Uphold transparent communication and integrity.
- Deliver timely and efficient solutions to mechanical problems.
- Set an example by adhering to all safety protocols, policies, and procedures.
- Work independently with minimal supervision, following scheduled maintenance plans.
- Provide personal hand tools; specialty tools are supplied by Lyons Magnus.
Qualifications and Skills
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- 1-3 years of experience in construction-related environments minimum; 2-3 years preferred in facilities, construction or industrial maintenance.
- Competency in Electrical systems, HVAC, Ammonia Refrigeration, Heat Transfer, and Steam Generators/Boilers.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication skills to discuss repairs and processes with the team.
- Ability to remain composed under pressure.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook and general computer/touchscreen use.
- Preferred knowledge in Plumbing, Fluid Dynamics, and Water Treatment.
