EPMS Supervisor

Position Overview

The Shift Supervisor is accountable for overseeing all control room operations, including managing utility assets such as power plants, transmission lines, and distribution substations, as well as non-utility behind-the-meter assets like Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This role directs electric system operations engineering to ensure continuous 24/7 grid stability, planning, monitoring, analysis, and execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the generation and transmission operations to maintain safe, reliable electrical service to avoid outages.
• Monitor switching and distribution centers to adjust equipment operations and direct field personnel during malfunctions or switching activities, ensuring safety and system reliability.
• Supervise grid operations activities, including scheduling, dispatching, and real-time energy flow monitoring.
• Develop, implement, and review standard operating procedures aligned with operation and maintenance manuals and OEM guidelines.
• Manage and train EPMS Dispatchers and Schedulers, ensuring operational KPIs are met.
• Oversee integration strategies for renewable energy sources (wind, solar, hydro) including coordination with developers, transmission operators, and regulatory bodies.
• Develop emergency response and contingency plans, coordinate during grid emergencies, and conduct regular training drills.
• Ensure regulatory compliance with standards such as FERC, NERC, and IEEE, including preparation and submission of required reports and filings.
• Collaborate and communicate with internal teams, external partners, and industry forums to address operational challenges, foster renewable integration, and represent the company strategically.
• Manage departmental budget, staff performance, and development, promoting safe and environmentally sustainable power plant operations.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or related field.
• At least 10 years of experience in grid operations, with a minimum of 3 years at senior operational level.
• Firm knowledge of power system operations, grid control methodologies, renewable energy technologies, and relevant regulatory frameworks.
• Experience in managing teams, complex project coordination, and maintaining operational excellence.
• Professional certifications in grid operations or renewable energy management are advantageous.
