Role Overview
As an Engineering Manager at Propeller, your central goal is to build and support a high-performing engineering team dedicated to delivering superior, customer-centric products worldwide. You will guide a group of full-stack engineers by nurturing their career progression, managing performance, promoting wellness, and achieving results aligned with company objectives. Collaboration with technical leads and product teams enables strategic alignment while your primary emphasis remains on people management.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and own the health, development, and achievements of an engineering team.
- Collaborate with technical leads and senior engineers to ensure roadmap delivery.
- Provide consistent feedback, coaching, and tailored growth opportunities to team members.
- Manage performance by supporting high performers and addressing underperformance sensitively.
- Foster a team culture grounded in feedback, inclusivity, and consistent improvement of workflows.
- Identify and resolve any obstacles—process-related, organizational, or interpersonal—that hinder progress.
- Partner with recruitment teams to hire skilled engineers and facilitate successful onboarding experiences.
Qualifications and Experience
- Strong passion for people leadership, coaching, and mentorship.
- Proven experience managing engineering teams including conducting one-on-ones, managing performance, fostering growth, and hiring.
- Empathetic leadership style that cultivates a safe and productive work atmosphere.
- Continuous drive to enhance processes, systems, and team collaboration.
- Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills with Product, Design, and senior technical leadership.
- Technical background sufficient to comprehend and support team challenges and responsibilities.
