Job Overview
The Electrical Technician will be responsible for ensuring safety compliance and executing maintenance tasks related to electrical equipment within a power or desalination plant. This role requires hands-on involvement in troubleshooting, repair, and supporting plant operations ensuring optimal equipment performance and reduced downtime.
Primary Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe working environment for self, colleagues, and contractors, ensuring permits and safety protocols are strictly followed.
- Comply with all method statements, work instructions, and procedural guidelines during operations and repairs.
- Monitor and report any unsafe conditions to the Electrical Engineer or Shift Team Leader promptly.
- Fulfill and complete maintenance work orders assigned through the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) as directed.
- Maintain all electrical equipment in accordance with OEM manuals and industry best practices to ensure high-quality outcomes.
- Provide support for 24-hour plant operations, including availability for emergency call-outs and troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
- Document and report all repair activities to the Electrical Engineer for review.
- Communicate regularly with the Electrical Engineer regarding all planned and unplanned maintenance activities.
- Ensure availability and proper condition of necessary tools and equipment at all job sites, reporting any issues or losses immediately.
- Organize spares, tools, and resources essential for carrying out maintenance procedures.
Technical Expertise
- Solid foundation in electrical engineering principles with practical application experience in power and desalination plant environments.
- Capability to undertake maintenance on various major electrical components and systems per OEM guidelines.
- Experienced in fault diagnosis and effective troubleshooting to resolve equipment failures.
- Competent in plant isolation and knowledge of international health and safety standards.
- Proficient in computer usage and effective in English communication.

Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma-level education in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Between 3 to 5 years of relevant hands-on electrical maintenance experience, ideally within combined cycle power plant environments.
- Training in emergency firefighting and first aid is preferred.
