Job description

Position Overview

This role serves as a pivotal member of the Corporate Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) Team at Takeda, spearheading the advancement and execution of the company's EHS Management System. The individual in this position is accountable for enhancing system clarity and simplifying compliance procedures while maintaining Takeda’s ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 accreditations worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and ensure alignment of Takeda’s EHS Management Systems with ISO standards and internal policies.
  • Lead the creation, rollout, and upkeep of corporate EHS documentation, including policies, standards, and operational procedures.
  • Champion strategic projects and drive continuous improvements to increase EHS program effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Utilize audit results to proactively detect compliance gaps and guide strategic system developments across operations.
  • Advance EHS systems that underpin performance improvement and risk mitigation objectives.
  • Develop operational processes to support EHS system implementation and ongoing management by applying a risk-based and continuous improvement perspective.
  • Simplify and structure EHS management systems, defining roles, responsibilities, and accountabilities clearly.
  • Foster partnerships with internal stakeholders, external agencies, and industry bodies to enhance EHS capabilities.
  • Lead projects and continuous improvement efforts based on performance metrics such as process safety incidents, audit findings, and environmental metrics.
  • Create and deliver training, resources, and guidance to ensure global site adherence to EHS requirements.
  • Stay abreast of regulatory developments and innovations to influence system design and long-term transformation plans.
  • Compile and present comprehensive annual EHS Management Reviews, identifying areas for enhancement.
  • Oversee change management initiatives related to EHS, including digital transformations and adoption of best practices.

Candidate Profile

  • Degree in engineering, life sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Over 10 years' experience in pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, or comparable manufacturing industries.
  • At least 5 years of experience or formal training in developing and implementing EHS Management Systems at a corporate level within multinational manufacturing organizations.
  • Proven collaboration skills with cross-functional teams, regulatory bodies, and external vendors.
  • Strong background in program management with demonstrated expertise in health and safety practices.
  • Deep knowledge of ISO 14000 and ISO 45000 standards, EHS risk management, and management system frameworks.
