Education Program Manager

Position Summary

The Associate Director of Practicum Education plays a supportive administrative role for the Practicum Office within the Bachelor and Master of Social Work programs. Reporting to the Director of Practicum Education, the position may be located on the Lawrence campus, Edwards campus, or remote as determined by leadership.

Periodic travel is expected to meet with various stakeholders, conduct site visits, recruit partners, and attend professional events.

Given fluctuating student enrollment and operational needs, responsibilities require flexibility and may include coordination of student placement, practicum site development, liaison work, instruction, training, and administrative duties. Close collaboration with students, faculty, agency personnel, and partners is essential.

Primary Responsibilities

• Perform site visits at practicum locations at least once per semester for assigned students.
• Monitor and address concerns related to student safety, risk, professional conduct, or practicum disruptions.
• Administer and assess practicum assignments, monitor completion, and provide grading recommendations to the course instructor.
• Consult with instructors and agency staff regarding student learning and practicum policies.
• Participate on Student Review Committees assigned to resolve practicum-related student performance issues.
• Support planning and execution of orientations, seminars, and continuing education events related to practicum.

• Provide guidance and information about practicum requirements to current and prospective students.
• Coordinate student practicums utilizing management software and related systems.
• Approve diverse practicum placements including employment-based and distance learning options.
• Manage student replacements when practicum disruptions arise.
• Recruit, develop, and maintain relationships with practicum agencies and instructors.
• Assist in preparing, tracking, and complying with affiliation agreements.

• Contribute to strategic initiatives improving student access to quality practicum experiences, including curriculum and policy development.
• Lead or participate in programs aimed at expanding practicum opportunities with funding and stipend support.
• Teach up to one social work course per semester, not exceeding two per academic year, based on enrollment needs.
• Perform other duties aligned with the School and University mission, including committee service.

Required Qualifications

• Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from a Council on Social Work Education accredited program.
• At least five years of full-time social work experience post-MSW.
• Minimum three years experience instructing practicum students in BSW and/or MSW programs.
• Proficiency with practicum management software, databases, or case management systems.
• Experience in community outreach and collaboration with agency partners.
• Strong written communication skills demonstrated in application materials.
• Current social work license or eligibility for licensure.
