Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Dry Utilities Inspector to become part of our team in Abu Dhabi. This position focuses on monitoring, inspecting, coordinating, and documenting all electrical and civil aspects of infrastructure and road construction projects, ensuring adherence to contract specifications and requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Utility Engineer by inspecting site activities related to streetlighting, electrical and telecommunication networks, asphalt road construction, and associated installations such as stormwater systems, guide signs, barriers, and guard rails, verifying compliance with approved drawings and project specifications.
  • Maintain a comprehensive daily log documenting activities, issues, approvals or rejections, work hours, labor, and equipment usage, endorsed at day’s end.
  • Respond promptly to Work Inspection Requests (WIR) submitted by contractors, taking suitable actions.
  • Oversee the quality of work and monitor site safety, health, and environmental conditions daily to ensure compliance with contract requirements and risk mitigation measures.
  • Prepare surveillance reports documenting any detected deficiencies or non-compliance, and complete Site Observation or Non-Conformance Reports as necessary.
  • Offer technical expertise to address discipline-related issues arising during construction.
  • Prepare all documentation required before inspections and process documents following inspections.
  • Maintain thorough records related to project execution and ensure quality control procedures are followed and improved upon.
  • Communicate site progress regularly and coordinate activities to facilitate successful project handover.

Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution approved by the Engineer.
  • At least five years of experience in civil and utilities construction within major infrastructure and road construction projects.
  • Experience working in the GCC region is advantageous.

Preferred Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with effective interpersonal abilities to collaborate well with project teams.
  • Ability to interpret construction specifications thoroughly and understand construction processes relevant to assigned duties.
  • Proficient with computers and capable of using technology for data access, record maintenance, report generation, and project-specific engineering or construction software.
