About the Role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to severe humanitarian crises globally, aiming to restore health, safety, education, economic stability, and empowerment to those impacted by conflicts and disasters. Founded in 1933, IRC operates in over 40 countries and 29 U.S. cities, driving impactful humanitarian relief and community strengthening initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transport staff members and IRC visitors safely to designated locations within specified timelines.
  • Conduct daily vehicle inspections to ensure optimal condition, handling minor upkeep and reporting significant issues to the Supply Chain Officer.
  • Adhere strictly to safe driving practices, including seatbelt use, speed limits, and courteous defensive driving.
  • Keep the vehicle clean both inside and outside.
  • Assist with loading and unloading supplies and parcels as needed.
  • Perform errands and other duties as instructed.
  • Engage in professional development and training programs when required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Basic literacy is required.
  • At least three years of relevant driving experience, preferably with NGOs or international organizations.
  • Fluency in the local language is essential.
  • Knowledge of fundamental vehicle maintenance routines.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately.
  • Competency in maintaining vehicle logbooks.
  • Responsiveness to security environments and awareness of traffic regulations.
  • Patience and effective interpersonal skills to interact with staff.
