About the role
Boots UK is seeking a Dispenser to join the store pharmacy team in Horncastle. In this store-based position, you will support the pharmacist and other healthcare colleagues in delivering pharmacy and wider healthcare services safely and efficiently. The role is centred on patient care, accurate prescription handling, and helping customers make informed choices about their medicines and wellbeing.
You will spend your time in the healthcare department of the store building trusted relationships with patients, welcoming them, dispensing prescriptions, selling medicines safely, and offering practical health advice based on your knowledge. The role also involves working with evolving in-store technology to improve patient safety and create more time for patient-facing support.
This position is not suitable for remote working. Only in-store candidates in the UK will be considered. Applications from outside the UK will not move forward unless relevant UK qualifications and right to work can be confirmed and evidenced.
Compensation
The hourly pay for this role is £13.92, with rates rising up to £16.64 in selected London locations.
Key responsibilities
- Handle prescription dispensing tasks and support the safe supply of medicines, including ordering, labelling, endorsing, dispensing, and collecting prescriptions.
- Work alongside pharmacy and healthcare colleagues to help deliver pharmacy services across the store.
- Offer guidance to patients on medicines and direct queries to the pharmacist when needed.
- Follow standard operating procedures to ensure prescriptions are dispensed safely and legally.
- Stay current with new in-store systems and operational processes.
- Help patients manage repeat prescriptions and medicines effectively so adherence improves and waste is reduced.
Development
You will receive regular updates and training to strengthen your healthcare knowledge. The role also offers career development opportunities, including progression toward Pharmacy Technician training or moving into the store leadership team.
Requirements
- You must have completed the Pharmacy Advisor qualification NVQ2, or an equivalent qualification, or be working toward it and have completed the first year of an MPharm degree.
- Current and valid UK right to work is essential.
- This role cannot support Skilled Worker Visa sponsorship.
- Experience in a community pharmacy setting would be an advantage.
