Job Overview
We are seeking a meticulous Digitisation Operative to join our team on a temporary contract based in Runcorn, Queensland, Australia. This onsite position spans three years, focusing on preserving and enhancing the digital accessibility of historical and archival records.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and organize historical and archival documents for the digitisation process.
- Scan and convert various historical records into high-quality digital formats.
- Conduct thorough quality assurance checks on digital images to verify accuracy and completeness.
- Handle delicate historical documents with care following archival handling guidelines.
- Adhere strictly to established digitisation workflows and procedures.
- Carry out preparatory and administrative duties related to digitisation tasks.
- Operate independently while actively collaborating within a team environment.
- Maintain precision and attention to detail while managing large volumes of documents.
Candidate Requirements
- Fluency in spoken and written German is mandatory.
- Interest or background in history, genealogy, or dealing with historical records is preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in work.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Eager to learn and apply digitisation skills and techniques.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Respectful and careful handling of archival documents is essential.
- Prior experience in digitisation, scanning, or working with archives or historical manuscripts is highly advantageous.
- Familiarity with archival standards or historical document management will be beneficial.
- English communication skills are a plus.
Additional Information
- Contract duration is three years (temporary).
- Working hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, totaling 37.5 hours per week excluding meal breaks.
- Compensation ranges from AUD 20 to AUD 28 per hour, negotiable.
- This role provides an opportunity to gain practical experience in digitisation and digital preservation of valuable historical assets.
