About the Role
We are seeking a highly creative design professional to join our compact team in Chicago. The ideal candidate will have the ability to develop design concepts through all stages including shop drawings, production files, and design development. You will be responsible for pitching concepts to clients and managing projects from inception to completion. As part of a small but dynamic group, enthusiasm, problem-solving abilities, and initiative are vital.
Each project is uniquely challenging, involving diverse materials and methods, requiring adaptability and eagerness to learn constantly. You will inspire and lead your team to deliver outstanding, seemingly impossible projects.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop design concepts and advance them through all project phases including development and presentation drawings.
- Create precise shop drawings, installation templates, production cut sheets, and print-ready files.
- Maintain proficiency in required design software.
- Analyze client branding and project objectives to create fitting design solutions under managerial guidance.
- Utilize 3D and rendering software for design visualization.
- Manage design hours and budgets by selecting appropriate size, materials, and fabrication methods.
- Adhere to company design processes and support the team as needed.
- Collaborate effectively with the design team to ensure project completion.
- Take ownership of assigned design projects and source materials/vendors, securing quotes when necessary.
- Follow digital file management protocols and assist with special projects.
- Travel for site visits, styling work, and client meetings as required.
Qualifications and Skills
- 2 to 4 years relevant experience in design-related fields such as architecture, environmental design, experiential or graphic design.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a design-focused discipline.
- Experience with styling and dimensionally constructing art.
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), AutoCAD, and SketchUp; experience with Lumion or other 3D rendering software is a plus.
- Strong design sense with ability to visualize in both 2D and 3D.
- Experience designing a broad spectrum including wall art, hanging installations, experiential spaces, pop-up shops, set designs, and murals.
- Skill in hand-sketching is required.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and excellent time management.
- Composure under pressure and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to accept and incorporate creative feedback constructively.
- Continuous research into art techniques, industry trends, and inspiration sources.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word, Google Drive, Gmail, and Asana project management tools.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license; car access preferred but not mandatory.

AllKinds Studio is a multidisciplinary design and fabrication firm specializing in custom art installations for brands. Working with diverse clients including corporations, branding agencies, and architecture firms, we craft custom artwork tailored for large scale brand environments, interiors, and events. Our team integrates various materials, technologies, and techniques to realize innovative and authentic pieces. Collaboration and creativity fuel our approach, enabling us to execute even the most complex designs. We are committed to sustainability, reusing materials to extend their life beyond the landfill.
Work Environment
This is an onsite position located in our busy fabrications studio in West Town, where large scale artwork is created. The studio environment is fast-paced, open, and active, including exposure to noise, dust, and various creative activity.
Compensation and Work Schedule
Salary is competitive and based on experience. The role includes benefits such as a healthcare contribution, 401k matching after one year, two weeks paid leave with an additional day awarded annually, and participation in a profit-sharing bonus. The company is growing, with this role expected to expand accordingly. Experimental studio hours will shift to 7 AM-5:30 PM Monday to Thursday starting 2026.
