Role Overview

The Derrickhand role is a full-time position located onsite in Abu Dhabi. Key responsibilities include managing drill pipe and tubing within the derrick, assisting in tripping operations, and supporting the rig crew and Driller during both drilling and workover tasks. Daily duties involve monitoring and maintaining drilling fluid systems, supporting safe operation of heavy derrick-related equipment, preparing requisite tools and tubulars, and performing routine inspections and maintenance of rig gear.

Safety and Collaboration

The incumbent must adhere strictly to H2S and general safety protocols, participate in safety meetings, and collaborate effectively with the rig team while complying with company rules and local regulations.

Qualifications and Skills Required

• Practical experience in drilling activities including drill pipe handling, tripping assistance, and rig floor support.
• Familiarity with workover procedures, well servicing tools, and associated operations.
• Competence in operating and maintaining heavy derrick and rig equipment safely.
• Proficiency in tubing operations such as running, pulling, and inspection relevant to well treatments.
• Awareness and training in H2S hazard management, gas detection, and emergency response techniques.
• Experience preferably in a Derrickhand or equivalent rig crew role on land or offshore drilling rigs.
• Strong safety focus, ability to work at heights, and physical endurance for demanding physical work in varying environmental conditions.
• Basic technical understanding of rig systems including mud control and well control fundamentals; oil and gas technical or vocational training is a plus.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate in a multicultural team setting under supervision.
