Role Overview

We seek a diligent Collections & Debt Recovery Specialist to optimize collection results by comprehending customers' situations and ensuring actions that benefit both iwoca and its clients. This role involves managing a high volume of accounts in arrears, maintaining excellent customer service, and collaborating across teams to determine effective recovery strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a substantial portfolio of overdue customer accounts, handling unique and varied cases from start to finish.
  • Conduct inbound and outbound communications via phone, letters, and emails with accuracy and care.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with customers to validate and resolve breach of agreements.
  • Negotiate, implement, and supervise repayment plans considering customers' circumstances while protecting business interests.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to devise and execute account-specific recovery strategies.
  • Partner with Collections Management and the Head of Collections to evaluate and improve recovery approaches.
  • Manage third-party providers such as debt collection agencies and paralegals to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and company policies throughout the recovery process.
  • Maintain the company’s reputation by upholding high standards professionally at all times.
  • Accurately update databases to reflect all activities and outcomes in the recovery workflow.

Requirements

  • Proven interest in utilizing AI tools to improve problem-solving, productivity, and work quality, demonstrating good judgment and the ability to explain their use.
  • German language proficiency at the C1 level to confidently engage with clients, negotiate arrangements, and handle challenging situations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least one year of experience in debt recovery, preferably in the commercial or business sector.
  • Empathy, patience, professionalism, and strong communication skills.
  • Confidence, accuracy, and agility in managing complex challenges.
  • Business insight and entrepreneurial mindset with enthusiasm for supporting SMEs; finance industry background is advantageous.

Compensation

The anticipated salary range is €34,000 to €46,000 annually. Candidates are encouraged to state their salary expectations. Salary benchmarks align with market standards, with quarterly reviews based on performance.
