Job Overview

The Data Scientist role involves conducting comprehensive analyses on diverse, complex datasets to uncover insights that can enhance patient health outcomes or support human capabilities. Candidates possess extensive knowledge of data science techniques alongside a deep understanding of specific data types, scientific challenges, and methodologies essential to developing innovative products, experiences, and technologies. This position collaborates closely with Data Science and Informatics faculty, Informatics, and IT teams to devise intelligence-driven solutions for intricate client challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate in interdisciplinary teams to conceive and recommend novel data-driven strategies for decision-making.
• Lead exploration and innovation efforts in AI and Machine Learning applications to solve multifaceted data problems across diverse fields.
• Offer strategic guidance related to data science and AI in specialized areas, such as cancer research, surgery, healthcare delivery, or marketing.
• Mentor and support data science teams by providing reliable analysis, consultation, and recommendations aligned with strategic and operational goals.
• Create analytic tools accessible for use by personnel without technical backgrounds.
• Occasionally partner with senior leadership to advance the institution’s digital initiatives.
• Advise on best practices for data collection, integration, and storage in accordance with business needs.
• Assist scientific projects under direction from senior staff or through autonomous work.
• Design, develop, and adapt scripts or software for data management, extraction, and analysis purposes.
• Provide consultative insights and effectively communicate findings to leadership.
