Data Platform Administrator

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Data Platform Administrator to oversee, fine-tune, and secure our enterprise data platforms spanning cloud and hybrid infrastructures. In this role, you will ensure optimal availability, performance, scalability, and security of modern data environments that support business intelligence, analytics, and enterprise applications.

Primary Responsibilities

• Administer and sustain enterprise cloud data platforms and associated infrastructure.
• Manage environments including Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse Analytics, Databricks, Snowflake, and Azure Data Lake Storage.
• Continuously monitor platform health, availability, storage usage, compute performance, and conduct capacity planning.
• Configure, enhance, and resolve issues in production data platforms to maintain maximum uptime.
• Oversee Identity & Access Management using Role-Based Access Control, enforce security policies, and manage user provisioning.
• Support ETL/ELT workflows leveraging Azure Data Factory and other orchestration solutions.
• Conduct platform patching, upgrades, maintenance activities, and manage change control.
• Implement backup strategies, disaster recovery plans, and ensure business continuity.
• Investigate incidents affecting platform performance and conduct root cause analyses.
• Create automation scripts in PowerShell, Python, or SQL to boost operational effectiveness.
• Collaborate closely with Data Engineers, Architects, BI developers, and Infrastructure teams.
• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, operational procedures, and compliance with platform standards.
• Ensure adherence to security, governance, and data management policies.
• Participate in on-call support rotations and assist in resolving major incidents in production systems.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
• 8 to 10 years of experience managing enterprise data platforms.
• At least 5 years supporting production environments on Microsoft Azure cloud.
• Experience operating mission-critical systems requiring high availability and reliability.
• Proven troubleshooting and performance tuning expertise.
• Familiarity working in ITIL-based service management settings.

Technical Expertise

• Data Platforms: Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Lake Storage, Databricks, Snowflake.
• Cloud Platforms: Microsoft Azure (mandatory), AWS or Google Cloud (preferred).
• Data Integration: Azure Data Factory (ADF), ETL/ELT pipelines, data orchestration.
• Databases: SQL Server, Azure SQL Database, PostgreSQL.
• Monitoring and Automation: Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, PowerShell, Python, SQL.
• Security and Governance: Azure Role-Based Access Control, Microsoft Entra ID/Azure Active Directory, backup and disaster recovery methods, data governance best practices, security protocols.
