Overview
A Massachusetts state agency in downtown Boston is looking for a dependable Data Entry Specialist to contribute to administrative functions in a dynamic office setting. This position is contracted for 3 to 6 months and requires onsite work Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. It offers a valuable chance to gain experience working within a government office and to develop key administrative competencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately input, update, and verify information in organizational databases and systems.
- Examine documents for completeness and precision.
- Manage both electronic and physical records efficiently.
- Generate administrative correspondence and related documents.
- Support filing, scanning, and document organization tasks.
- Address internal requests and assist with general administrative activities.
- Perform additional clerical tasks as needed.
Daily Task Breakdown
- Approximately 70% data entry and document processing.
- About 20% administrative support including filing, scanning, and written correspondence.
- Roughly 10% collaboration with team and contribution to special projects.
Qualifications
- 0 to 3 years of experience in administrative or data entry roles.
- Strong precision and attention to detail in data handling.
- Excellent written communication and command of grammar.
- Basic computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Ability to prioritize tasks effectively while managing time efficiently.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Preferred qualifications include prior office or customer service experience, familiarity with databases or document management systems, some experience with government or public sector contexts, and possessing an associate's degree is advantageous.
Compensation and Benefits
- Hourly wage ranging from $20 to $21.
