Position Overview and Work Environment

As a Customer Support Technician, you will engage directly in a cleanroom setting to assemble and assess sophisticated multimillion-euro display and wafer fabrication equipment. This technology supports everyday devices including VR headsets, smartwatches, and successive generations of smartphones. As part of a skilled team comprising engineers and technicians, you will benefit from collaborative support and contribute ideas towards enhancing processes and business outcomes. The role is based onsite at our Leixlip, County Kildare location and involves a rotating shift schedule covering both day and night shifts. Complete training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help organize daily work plans in the assigned area to complete installations, preventive maintenance, and repairs.
  • Escalate issues in accordance with policies to keep management updated on system downtimes.
  • Verify and approve operational quality of equipment through regular quality and maintenance checks, including wet cleans when necessary.
  • Educate customers and trades staff on system installation, operation, and upkeep. Troubleshoot process deviations with some guidance from senior engineers.
  • Take ownership of customer satisfaction by planning and coordinating support efforts with customer management.
  • Conduct start-up, warranty, paid service, and service contract activities; perform tier 0, I, and II start-ups within timelines.
  • Leverage training and experience to identify certain process-related system issues.
  • Develop and implement productivity enhancement plans by monitoring equipment performance and planning uptime improvements.
  • Plan and carry out support tasks across various Applied Materials systems.

Basic Qualifications

  • Associate degree or technical certification along with relevant field experience.
  • One to two years of related customer or field support experience.
  • Motivated to learn how to interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, emphasizing detailed documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Mechanical aptitude with knowledge in pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum technology, or thermodynamics.
  • Familiarity with hand tools and correct usage, including digital multimeters.
