Role Overview
This position supports day-to-day crewing activities for vessel operations, with responsibility for coordinating crew movements, maintaining compliance records, and ensuring smooth communication between all parties involved in crew deployment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate crew schedules so that crew replacements and changes happen on time according to vessel requirements.
- Keep seafarer files up to date, including certificates, contracts, and other personnel records, using Danaos crewing software.
- Work closely with manning agents, vessel owners, and flag authorities to facilitate seamless crew transfers and onboarding.
- Handle crew payroll processing, allotments, and claims through the company’s payroll platform.
- Monitor expiry dates for all crew certifications and take action well ahead of renewal deadlines.
- Manage crew welfare concerns such as medical issues, repatriation arrangements, and insurance-related claims.
- Prepare documentation for crew joining and leaving vessels, ensuring compliance with port and immigration rules.
- Assist with sourcing and evaluating qualified seafarers for assigned ships.
- Review crew-related costs and budget performance using Excel and the organisation’s ERP tools.
- Ensure all crewing activities comply with STCW, MLC 2006, and internal SOPs.
Requirements
- A diploma or degree in Maritime Studies, Human Resource Management, or a similar discipline.
- Two to three years of experience in crew administration, marine HR, or another shipping-related role.
- Practical familiarity with crewing systems such as Tero Marine or Danaos, along with strong MS Office skills.
- Understanding of STCW and MLC 2006 compliance requirements.
- Excellent organisational and communication abilities, with the capacity to manage several priorities at once.
- Comfortable working on your own with minimal supervision.
