Role Summary

As a Qualcomm engineer focusing on CPU verification, you will develop and validate micro-architecture concepts at the CPU and SoC levels. You will collaborate with chip architects to ensure your designated part of the CPU design is fully verified and ready for product launch.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with CPU and SoC Architects to grasp conceptual designs and system requirements.
  • Create comprehensive test and coverage plans derived from architectural and micro-architectural insights.
  • Design scalable and portable verification methodologies suitable for diverse environments.
  • Develop verification environments including stimuli, checkers, assertions, trackers, and coverage components.
  • Construct testplans and testbenches tailored to specific functional domains.
  • Execute verification plans encompassing design and environment bring-ups, regression testing, feature validation, and failure debugging.
  • Monitor and report on verification progress using various metrics like bug tracking and coverage analysis.

Candidate Profile

  • Expertise in microprocessor verification concepts such as cache coherence, memory ordering, prefetching, branch prediction, renaming, speculative execution, and memory management.
  • Experience with Random Instruction Sequencing at block, unit, and chip levels to verify design correctness.
  • Proven leadership managing small teams of verification engineers in CPU verification projects.
  • Familiarity with advanced techniques including formal verification, assertions, and silicon bring-up is advantageous.
  • Comprehensive understanding of microprocessor functions, architectures, and micro-architectures.
  • Skilled in writing detailed test plans, portable testbenches, transactors, and assembly code.
  • Proficient with diverse verification tools and methodologies such as simulators, coverage collection, gate-level simulation, waveform viewers, formal proof tools.
  • Ability to independently develop and manage design blocks or units.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or related discipline plus 4 or more years of ASIC design, verification, validation or integration experience; OR
  • Master's degree with at least 3 years relevant experience; OR
  • PhD with 2 or more years relevant experience.
  • Equivalent experience will be considered based on ability to meet job responsibilities.
