Job description
Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Cost Estimation Manager to join our team in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. This role involves coordinating with various engineering and project teams to gather technical information and prepare comprehensive cost estimates for transmission infrastructure projects including substations, transmission lines, transformers, and reactors. You will also support business development by providing cost estimates for bids and contribute to market intelligence and process improvements.
Primary Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Centre of Excellence and engineering/project teams to collect technical specifications and Bill of Quantities.
- Formulate and review detailed cost estimates for transmission projects covering 765kV, 400kV, 220kV & 132kV AIS/GIS substations, transmission lines, EHV class transformers, and reactors.
- Prepare costing for major components like transformers, reactors, towers, and conductors utilizing established costing templates.
- Initiate EPC inquiries for transmission lines and substations during bid phases and facilitate technical discussions with internal stakeholders as needed.
- Assist business development efforts by supplying cost estimates for tender submissions.
- Calculate IEEMA price variations for steel, conductors, ICT/SRs, and various substation equipment and services.
- Gather and analyze relevant market intelligence for applicable projects.
- Participate in merger and acquisition activities from a techno-commercial perspective when necessary.
- Identify and implement opportunities to enhance efficiency in the estimation process.
- Create and maintain business-specific standardized cost templates and procedures.
- Analyze cost estimates in comparison with actual procurement data to evaluate accuracy.
- Adhere to and improve standard templates for common items.
Team Leadership and Development
- Support and mentor junior team members in performance improvement and goal achievement.
- Promote effective teamwork and manage interpersonal conflicts to enhance collaboration.
- Engage in clear communication with project stakeholders to ensure alignment.
- Identify training needs within the team to foster growth and skill enhancement.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Economics, Finance, Operations, or related field.
- At least 10 years of relevant work experience.
- Minimum of 5 years specifically in cost estimation, purchasing management, procurement, or commodity management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and IEEMA software tools.
