Control Engineer

Role Overview

The Control Engineer will oversee the maintenance and management of all control and safety systems, along with field instrumentation equipment, at QatarEnergy LNG's onshore facilities. This role is integral to ensuring operational reliability and safety compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on Integrated Control and Safety Systems (ICSS) and support complex instrumentation and control tasks.
• Assist in quality assurance and quality control activities related to control systems and instrumentation during maintenance procedures.
• Provide operational support, including involvement in alarm management, shutdown gate meetings, risk-based work selection, asset review meetings, and issue tracking.
• Manage change processes including implementation approvals, system documentation updates, and impact evaluations; contribute to maintenance strategy improvements and root cause analyses.
• Evaluate spare parts availability, initiating procurement requests as needed.
• Participate in Factory and Site Acceptance Testing (FAT and SAT) for new instrumentation and control systems to ensure successful integration.
• Support commissioning activities ahead of plant startups; assist in shutdown and startup operations, integration of new projects, and handover processes.
• Maintain and update maintenance policies and procedures, conduct training sessions, and engage in divisional strategic projects.
• Conduct Emergency Shut Down (ESD) tests according to established procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or science with specialization in instrumentation & control, computer science, or electronics.
• At least 4 years of experience in instrumentation and control within oil and gas or petrochemical industries.
• Familiarity with Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Trip Matrix Relays (TMR), Emergency Shutdown Systems (ESD), and related third-party interfaces with DCS.
• Fundamental knowledge of SAP systems.
• Understanding of control valve maintenance, safety instrumented systems, turbine instrumentation, and various field instruments like Differential Pressure Transmitters (DPT), Resistance Temperature Detectors (RTD), thermowells, and RADAR level transmitters.
• Intermediate SAP system knowledge.

• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and database tools.
• Skilled in developing procedures.
• Strong abilities in training delivery, competency assurance, coaching, and mentoring.
• Technical competencies aligned with relevant frameworks.
