This role involves working within community-based, specialist Day Services that support adults with disabilities. • Collaborate with clients, their support networks, and multidisciplinary teams through person-centred methods aligned with the New Directions policy framework.
  • Provide services guided by a Human Rights Based Approach emphasizing participation, empowerment, accountability, non-discrimination, and individualized outcomes.
  • Encourage and facilitate input and shared decision-making from service users in planning and delivering day services.
  • Advocate for inclusive participation and structural changes that reduce barriers to community integration.
  • Respect and uphold clients' dignity and autonomy in line with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and equality legislation.
  • Work individually and in groups within the community to promote access to mainstream opportunities in education, work, leisure, and civic engagement equally available to all.
  • Promote positive risk-taking by supporting individuals to make decisions and learn through experience.

Candidate Requirements

  • Possess a qualification of QQI Level 5 or higher in General Health and Social Care, Community and/or Youth Work, or an equivalent health care qualification from another jurisdiction.
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities, autism, and challenging behaviors for at least six months is desired.
  • Computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with information systems are essential.
  • An interest or skills in arts, crafts, pottery, horticulture, gardening, alternative therapies, music, or sports will be advantageous.
  • Availability to work afternoons, evenings, and some weekends as required.
  • Possess a valid full driving license allowing operation of manual transmission vehicles in Ireland, as driving is required.
