Civil Engineer

Job Overview

The Civil Engineer will be responsible for the comprehensive planning, design, supervision, and upkeep of civil infrastructure and facilities within oil and gas industry projects. This includes working on buildings, warehouses, workshops, as well as the layout and arrangement of pipelines, tubes, and vents, ensuring efficient maintenance of oil processing plants.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and manage the construction and ongoing maintenance of civil infrastructure including buildings, structures, pipelines, gas plants, cooling towers, water and sewage systems, and waste disposal units.
• Carry out technical feasibility studies and site investigations.
• Create detailed civil engineering designs employing specialized engineering and design software.
• Perform advanced engineering calculations and validate technical design criteria.
• Coordinate with diverse stakeholders such as clients, architects, subcontractors, and consultants.
• Prepare technical specifications, documentation, and tendering materials.
• Assist in tender processes and subcontractor evaluations.
• Identify and resolve issues related to civil design, construction, and project development.
• Oversee allocation of project resources, manage maintenance budgets, and supervise civil engineering operations.
• Schedule and ensure timely procurement and delivery of necessary materials, tools, and equipment.
• Ensure adherence to legal, quality, regulatory, and health, safety, and environment (HSE) standards in all civil works.
• Evaluate project sustainability and environmental impacts.
• Track project progress to confirm completion within budget and timeline.
• Collaborate with various engineering disciplines for seamless site operations.
• Ensure construction aligns with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and industry standards.
• Maintain thorough project documentation including records, reports, calculations, and technical files.
• Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, integrity, and ongoing improvement across all responsibilities.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a recognized equivalent engineering qualification.
• At least 10 years of pertinent experience in the oil and gas or petrochemical sectors.
• Extensive knowledge in civil design, construction oversight, site supervision, and maintenance practices.
• Strong understanding of civil works pertaining to industrial buildings, pipelines, water and sewage systems, and waste management facilities.
• Well-versed in oil and gas industry standards, especially HSE compliance.
• Capability to conduct in-depth technical studies, site assessments, and complex engineering calculations.
• Proficient in construction standards, techniques, and best practices.
• Experienced with civil engineering design software.
• Excellent analytical, mathematical, and detail-oriented skills for problem identification and resolution.
• Fluent in English with strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Effective interpersonal skills for clear communication with clients, subcontractors, consultants, and team members.
• Professional approach to delivering and receiving constructive feedback.
• Adaptability, diligence, and commitment to integrity in professional tasks.
• Ability to collaborate across various disciplines and support multiple projects or business segments as needed.
