About Broward Children's Center

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) plays an integral role within the Executive Leadership Team, providing strategic and operational direction across various departments including administration, clinical support, finance, human resources, IT, facilities, compliance, and program management. The COO ensures day-to-day operations align tightly with Broward Children's Center's mission and strategic vision, driving organizational excellence and continuous performance enhancement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a strategic consultant to the CEO and executive team on operational matters and long-range planning.
  • Craft and implement operational strategies that reflect the organization's goals and mission.
  • Translate strategic plans into actionable operational targets and priorities.
  • Report operational results, ongoing strategies, and metrics to the CEO and Board of Directors.
  • Champion efficiency and optimal use of resources across the enterprise.
  • Supervise all operational units, including finance, HR, IT, facilities, compliance, clinical support, administrative, and programs.
  • Enhance collaboration and communication across departments to improve service delivery and effectiveness.
  • Develop and enforce policies, procedures, and standards that enhance accountability and consistency.
  • Establish KPIs, dashboards, and performance indicators to evaluate organizational operations.
  • Lead ongoing process improvement and change initiatives to boost productivity and quality.
  • Partner with leadership in long-term planning, organizational growth, and innovation efforts.
  • Identify opportunities for operational expansion and service advancements.
  • Guide workforce development, succession planning, and leadership programs to strengthen capacity.
  • Promote a culture embracing teamwork, responsibility, innovation, and ongoing improvement.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant federal, state, local, healthcare, nonprofit, and accreditation laws.
  • Oversee risk management, business continuity, emergency preparedness, and resilience plans.
  • Maintain robust internal controls, governance, and policy compliance in collaboration with relevant departments.
  • Manage quality assurance and implement measures to elevate regulatory compliance and organizational performance.
  • Collaborate closely with the CFO to align operational decisions with financial goals.
  • Manage budgeting, resource allocation, capital projects, and cost efficiency programs.
  • Use financial and operational data analytics to enhance organizational effectiveness and maximize resource use.
  • Support grant-funded and capital projects via effective operational planning.
  • Lead and mentor senior leadership teams to foster a high-performance, engaged, and accountable workforce.
  • Champion diversity, equity, inclusion, and core organizational values within daily operations.
  • Oversee operational systems, enterprise technologies, and infrastructure while spearheading digital transformation initiatives.
  • Implement technology solutions that drive workflow automation, compliance, security, and scalability.
  • Encourage data-driven decision-making through operational analytics and reporting tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Public Administration, Operations Management, Organizational Leadership or related field.
  • Master's degree (MBA, MHA, MPA) preferred.
  • At least 5 years of ascending executive leadership experience, with minimum 2 years in senior operational roles such as COO, VP of Operations, or Director of Operations.
  • Preferably experience in nonprofit and/or healthcare operational management.
  • Deep knowledge of organizational operations, strategic planning, regulatory compliance, quality management, HR, facilities, and governance.
  • Proven success leading enterprise-wide initiatives, business process improvement, change management, and restructures.
  • Strong grasp of budgeting, operational finance, resource planning, and organizational performance metrics.
  • Familiarity with enterprise management systems, ERPs, HRIS, project management, and operational reporting platforms.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and business intelligence tools.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and strategic planning capabilities.
  • Ability to build strong partnerships with executive staff, Boards, government bodies, community partners, healthcare entities, donors, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects while maintaining exceptional operational standards and mission focus.
