About the Role
Our client is a leading financial institution in North America with extensive operations across various sectors including institutional and corporate banking, wealth management, private client services, commercial banking, treasury, and retail banking.
We are searching for a competent Business Data Analyst to fill a contract role with a term of 12 months. This position will be based in Toronto, ON with a hybrid work arrangement. Working hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The starting pay is $32 per hour.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, design, and maintain straightforward business solutions leveraging Power Apps and Power Automate platforms.
- Recognize areas involving manual processes and implement automation solutions aimed at improving efficiency and minimizing operational risk.
- Create and refine workflows that support approval systems, data capture, and reporting activities related to business functions.
- Provide ongoing support, enhancements, and troubleshooting for existing solutions built on the Power Platform.
- Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to comprehend their requirements and deliver practical automation solutions.
- Explore and evaluate the application of low-code technologies to enhance user experience and operational efficiency.
- Examine current business processes to identify opportunities for simplification, standardization, and automation.
- Prepare thorough documentation on existing and desired future workflows.
- Conduct root cause analyses to uncover inefficiencies, obstacles, and risks within operational processes.
- Suggest improvements and assist in implementing process enhancements.
- Contribute to initiatives focused on continuous improvement and organizational transformation.
- Analyze business and operational datasets to identify trends, risks, exceptions, and opportunities.
- Design and produce reports, dashboards, and visual representations using Power BI and other related tools.
- Define and maintain business KPIs and key performance measures, translating business questions into actionable insights.
- Engage with stakeholders to understand reporting and analysis needs.
- Map and document data flows across processes and systems to support reporting requirements.
- Assist in basic data modeling and report design activities, ensuring business requirements align with analytics and data solutions.
- Work collaboratively with Finance, Operations, Data, and Technology teams to understand challenges and seek improvement opportunities.
- Facilitate discussions to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Communicate findings and recommendations clearly and effectively.
- Support deployment and adoption of new automated processes, reporting tools, and operating methods.
Qualifications and Experience
- Between 2 to 4 years of professional experience in areas such as process improvement, data analytics, reporting/dashboard development, Power Platform development, business operations, or automation with low-code tools.
- Proven hands-on experience using Power Apps and Power Automate to build or maintain solutions.
- Experience in data-driven business decision support.
- Proficient in developing reports, dashboards, KPIs, and providing analytical insights.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to operate effectively within cross-functional teams bridging business and technical domains.
- Experienced in managing multiple priorities and adapting to changing business requirements.
- Capability with Power BI report development and dashboard creation.
- Familiarity with SharePoint, Dataverse, Microsoft Lists, or other Microsoft 365 services.
- Understanding of data flow, data mapping, and elementary data modeling principles.
- Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, or comparable process enhancement methodologies.
- Skill in documenting workflows, business rules, and operational procedures.
- Experience or familiarity with VBA, Python, or Alteryx.
- Background in financial services is advantageous.
