Primary Purpose
This role is accountable for managing budget control operations within the Engineering Department, encompassing tasks such as processing CAPEX/OPEX budgets, Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) documents, invoices, and asset capitalization procedures.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and prepare the annual Work Program and Budget pack, including CAPEX, OPEX, and non-routine budgets, ensuring accurate allocation in the SAP system.
- Execute budget revisions and supplementary budgets with valid justifications and supporting documentation.
- Generate AFEs precisely while complying fully with company policies and procedures.
- Ensure implementation and adherence to established Budget Control procedures and work instructions.
- Review and advise on the correct allocation of reallocation journals and expenditure postings within SAP FI concerning AFE numbers and WBS elements.
- Collaborate closely with cost, planning, and project teams to guarantee timely and accurate expenditure recording through Service Entry Sheets.
- Offer guidance and solutions for budget-related challenges to project teams, ensuring invoice processing and payment clearance meet target timelines.
- Provide justifications for monthly and quarterly budget variances, securing valid explanations and mitigation plans from related teams.
- Oversee project status, CWIP, and completion certificates to confirm capitalization aligns with company policies.
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives for budget control processes.
- Prepare ad-hoc reports for budget and cost analysis as required.
- Coach and support the professional growth of Qatari staff members on the job.
Qualifications and Skills
- A university or college degree in financial accounting, or professional certifications such as CPA, ACCA, CGMA, or equivalent.
- Proficient working knowledge of SAP, particularly modules PS and MM.
- Strong capabilities in MS Office applications, especially Excel and PowerPoint, as well as database management.
