Job description

Role Overview

The Master Barista will support the Beverage Manager in overseeing all beverage-related operations across the hotel's restaurants, bars, outlets, and banquets in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia. This role is pivotal in ensuring exceptional coffee service that leaves guests with an unforgettable experience. Acting as a representative of the hotel's quality and service standards, the Barista maintains operational excellence and guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Skillfully prepare high-quality coffee drinks including perfect espresso shots, cappuccinos, lattes, and various specialty recipes.
  • Operate and maintain different espresso machines to ensure correct pressure and extraction techniques for premium coffee.
  • Engage with customers to foster an enjoyable coffee experience that encourages repeat visits.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of coffee origins, types (Robusta vs Arabica), and flavor profiles across major coffee growing regions.
  • Manage front counter duties including serving beverages and light food items efficiently and courteously.
  • Excel at multitasking and prioritizing workload to guarantee optimal customer service and product consistency.
  • Understand and educate about premium coffee varieties, their processing, and distinct taste characteristics.
  • Maintain a clean working environment and professional personal appearance at all times.
  • Promote a respectful, fair, and cooperative team environment, guiding colleagues on exemplary behavior.
  • Handle difficult customer interactions calmly and professionally, ensuring satisfaction.
  • Assist in staff training programs, including conducting certification processes and ongoing education to uphold beverage quality standards.
  • Develop and update specialty coffee menus and pairings aligned with fine dining offerings and seasonally refresh recipes.
  • Monitor inventory, reconcile supplies, and collaborate on procurement to maintain service bar stock and equipment upkeep.
  • Lead team meetings and contribute to departmental planning, budgeting, payroll, and record-keeping tasks.
  • Prioritize tasks, delegate appropriately, and adapt to shifting operational demands including short-staffed situations.
  • Ensure compliance with food handling, presentation, and safety procedures across beverage services.
  • Participate actively in Food & Beverage and Department Head meetings to align strategies and operations.
  • Take ownership of challenges and provide regular status updates to the Beverage Manager.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and availability to serve VIP guests and manage multiple outlets' coffee operations independently.
  • Create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) based on extensive coffee expertise and train staff in coffee preparation, latte art, and sales.
  • Support procurement processes and continuously improve service through feedback and coaching.
